A Summer Travel City Guide to Philadelphia

A Summer Travel City Guide to Philadelphia

On the topic of weekend getaways, today we're joined by Olivia Dello Buono, an Editor from Ace & Camp, who is sharing her favorite spots for a sunny, summer weekend getaway in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia has always been home, so I’m excited to team up with ThirdLove to show you around my favorite city.

With its many historic spots, local favorites and hidden gems, Philly is an exciting place to be right now and is small enough to see and do a lot on a quick trip. Everything is pretty walkable or a short subway ride away from one another, so you can really pack in a lot of fun into a day.

You’re probably thinking, “What does a bra have to do with traveling?”

Well, a lot actually! Comfort is so important when you’re on-the-go and the last thing you want to worry about is a bra that’s too tight or doesn’t fit properly. If you like to pack light, having one or two bras that are versatile is key.

I’m a big fan of ThirdLove because they make finding the perfect bra actually enjoyable. With the FitFinder, it’s easy to find not only a bra that fits but the styles that accentuate your body and look great under clothing. There are so many classic cuts and colors to choose from, it’s really hard to go wrong. (And it’s one less thing you have to worry about when you’re traveling!)

Whether you’re heading to the City of Brotherly Love for a long weekend or a short getaway, here are my can’t-miss-spots—and my must-have bras for traveling!

1. La Colombe Coffee

This brewhouse and coffee shop got its roots in Philadelphia and is a must for getting your day off on the right foot. Head to their Fishtown flagship location to get a drip, espresso, pour over or (my favorite) cold brew on tap.

2. Old City/South Street Shopping

While many flock to Walnut and Chestnut Street for their retail fix, I love to venture off to the Old City and South Street Districts to visit the many boutiques and vintage stores. My favorites include Vagabond, Art in the Age, Greene Street Consignment and Retrospect Vintage. The T-Shirt Bra in Naked 2 is the perfect base layer for trying on a bunch of different looks.

3. Reading Terminal Market

Nothing is more Philadelphia than a cheesesteak, but I would argue that our roast pork sandwiches come in at a close second. Head over to Reading Terminal for a classic Philly-style lunch and pick up some baked goods and treats to take home with you.

4. Spruce Street Harbor Park

If you’re looking for some outdoor adventure, head over to Spruce Street Harbor Park for some roller skating or a picnic on the waterfront. This is the perfect way to spend the day with your family or on a fun day date. The Front-Closure Lace Racerback in Deep Orchid is the perfect bra to layer under a tank—the lace looks flirty when peeking out the back!

5. Little Baby’s Ice Cream

The best ice cream in Philly is at Little Baby’s. There are so many creative flavors to choose from, from Thai Iced Tea and Black Pepper Butter Pecan to Earl Grey Sriracha and Everything Bagel. They even have vegan options available. Opt for the Yard’s Brown Butter Brawler (they’re a local brewery!) or the Rose Pistachio.

6. Frankford Hall

End your night with a brew and bite at Fishtown’s Frankford Hall. This outdoor beer garden is a great spot to catch up with friends, play some Jenga and enjoy the beautiful weather. Try a local beer on tap or grab a cider and soft pretzel.

This post is part of a summer travel series, where we'll be exploring destinations around the United States (and world) in the coming weeks and months.
