How to Normalize Some Out-There Fashion Trends for Fall

Bring on the bright lights, and flocks of models—Fashion Week is upon us!

Every season, we see loads of new trends, colors and fabrics walk down the runways. But sometimes (or, let’s be honest, most of the time) we have a hard time picturing ourselves actually wearing any of the items or trends. Can you relate?

To help shed some light on which trends are going to be big this fall—and which you’ll be able to dress down and style for work or play—we rounded up our favorites below:

1. Red everything.

Red is a big hue for fall, but typically it comes to live in the form of oxblood, or another dark, red hue. This year, red is back—but this time, it’s bold and bright.

Yes, it can be intimidating to rock red every day: it’s a power color, after all. But all you need is the swipe of a red lip (like this Chanel Rouge) or a red bandana expertly tied in your hair to pay homage to this strong and mighty trend.

2. Plaid.

We have to say, we’re having serious “Clueless” throwbacks with this one. Plaid is back for fall, and we’re downright giddy. As out-there as the runways made this style seem, you can rock plaid for every day.

Try a plaid button-down with a pair of trusty jeans, or go bold with a schoolboy blazer. Your co-workers will be wishing their work style was as chic as yours!

3. Mid-length skirts.

Tall girls, rejoice! While mid-length skirts might not work for everyone, this trend is here to stay, in a big way. Mid-length skirts are everywhere, from the runway to the windows of our favorite stores.

Bonus points: metallics are trending, too. Opt for a mid-length skirt in a dreamy iridescent hue, like this one. Paired with a cozy sweater and some classic neutral heels, you’ve got yourself the perfect dinner party look.

4. Pajama dressing.

This may just be our favorite look yet! While a full set of pajamas is most certainly too much for most office environments, an understated pajama blouse with some form-fitting work pants is a great way to subtly pay tribute to this comfy and relaxed style for the upcoming season.

5. One-shoulder looks.

PSA: the biggest trend from summer is here to stay! One-shoulder and off-the-shoulder looks had our Instagram feeds buzzing this summer, and they’re transitioning quite nicely into fall.

Try an off-the-shoulder sweater, for a stylish fall look. P.S. our Strapless Bra is a great option to wear underneath all of your slouchier items.
