Celebrating International Women's Day 2017 at St. Anthony's San Francisco

On a sunny morning in early March, the ThirdLove team carried armloads of boxes through the doors of St. Anthony’s in San Francisco. The occasion was International Women’s Day and inside the boxes were—you guessed it—hundreds of bras.

Since 1950, St. Anthony’s has been a place for San Franciscans in need to get essential services, including meals, healthcare, and addiction recovery aid. St. Anthony’s also runs the city’s largest Free Clothing Program, providing warm clothes and employment apparel to homeless and low-income individuals, including women and children.

As any woman knows, a bra is often a necessity for everyday wear and can be especially crucial when dressing for a job. Through ThirdLove’s Bras For All Donation Program, we have donated over 6,000 bras to St. Anthony’s alone, helping low-income and homeless women get the comfort and support they need.

"Before ThirdLove started donating bras to our Free Clothing Program, we rarely had enough bras for each woman, let alone the right size. Now we have bins full of A, B, C, D, and above (plus ½ sizes!) for our female guests to choose from.”

There was a great turnout for the International Women’s Day celebration this year—over 100 women attended. Amid the boxes piled high, our Fit Specialists provided bra fittings and each woman received two ThirdLove bras.

We believe every woman deserves to feel comfortable and confident, and we couldn’t be prouder to support the work of St. Anthony’s and the countless women they serve. To the team at St. Anthony’s: thank you for all the work you did to make this International Women’s Day Celebration possible, and for the ongoing ways you serve the community of San Francisco.

“Thank you for thinking of St. Anthony’s and for helping us serve hope to our guests so that they may live with the dignity and respect each person deserves."
