You’ve been doing it forever. But have you been doing it right?
Our team of Fit Specialists is here to help you find bras that feel like they were made for you. We’ve worked with thousands of women find their perfect fit, so we’re sharing some of our best advice here.
Straightforward as it may sound, there’s actually a lot more to donning a bra than you might think. In fact, the internet recently exploded over this very topic so we thought it would be useful to elaborate here.
Here’s how to make sure you’re putting on your bra correctly:
The Band
First things first. When you get a new bra, make sure the band fits when fastened on the loosest hook. That way, as the band naturally stretches over time, you can always make it tighter. If your bra starts riding up in the back or you’re noticing your shoulder straps digging in, try tightening the band. (If that doesn’t work, you may need a smaller band size.)
The Cups
Next, do the scoop and swoop: Once the band is fastened, lift each breast into the cup, while you settle the underwire (or the band if you’re going wireless) against your ribcage. Pro tip: lean forward while you do this step to make it easier to gather your breast tissue. The scoop and swoop is especially important for women with larger breasts and helps ensure that you’re being fully supported by the cups.
The Straps
Finally, be sure to adjust the straps, checking that they’re tight enough. They should sit snugly on your shoulders without digging in or leaving indentations on your skin. Due to the normal stretching that happens with wear, you’ll probably need to revisit the straps every 6-8 weeks to tighten them up a bit.
You’re done! And now that your bra is on, our super comfortable designs and perfect fit will help you forget it’s even there.
