Our latest tips in The Busy Girl’s Guide to Wellness got us thinking about the best way to spend the morning to set us up for a healthy, happy day.
We believe that the experience of getting dressed in the morning—including putting on your bra—should add a little ease and joy to your day. Who has time to worry about an ill-fitting bra!? Not us.
We’re so inspired by the quote by Daniel Handler, “Morning is an important time of day, because how you spend your morning can often tell you what kind of day you are going to have.”
We couldn’t agree more! Mornings set the tone for the rest of the day. We’ve all heard of the saying, “I woke up on the wrong side of the bed.” With these tips, we hope that that never happens again.
Go tech-free
It’s so easy to grab your phone and start scrolling through your newsfeeds and emails right away. Give yourself a 15-minute buffer before technology starts, and allow your brain to fully wake up.
Start with gratitude
Keep a small journal and pen by your bed and in that 15 minutes write down three things you are grateful for that day. Anything goes! Studies show that this can put you in a positive mindset and increase your satisfaction with life and overall productivity level. Plus, if you don’t have time to meditate, this is the perfect mindfulness practice.
Stretch it out
Getting in some morning movement is beneficial for our overall health. It gets the blood flowing and the endorphins up. However, if you don’t have time for a full walk or workout, try doing a few minutes of stretching. A few basic sun salutations will do the trick. Incorporating deep breathing with your stretches also gets fresh oxygen to your brain and calms the nervous system.
Whether you’re a morning person or not, we love these quick, simple techniques to set up your day for success. These small actions can go a long way. Plus, they give a whole new meaning to “top of the morning!”
