Read moreA Few Simple Ways to Make Your Monday Easier
Do you dread Monday mornings? We hear you—they can be rough. But what if, instead of being a source of stress and anxiety, Mondays were fun? Mondays set the tone for the rest of your week, so we believe they should be a positive kickstart to the other six days ahead.
You may be thinking “easier said than done”, but here are three ways we’re making the shift to more enjoyable Mondays (and you can, too):
1. Plan something fun for Sunday night.
Nothing is worse than sitting at home on Sunday night stressing about the upcoming week. Instead of planning all of the fun for Friday or Saturday and leaving none for Sunday, consider planning a date night, concert or some other favorite activity for Sunday night. If you have something to look forward to all weekend, you’ll be able to enjoy yourself a bit more—and you can’t dread Monday morning when you’re having fun!
2. Spend 10 minutes prepping for Monday morning.
Just because we think Sunday nights should be fun doesn’t mean we don’t believe in planning ahead. Even 10 minutes on Sunday can help save so much time and ease stress come Monday morning. We suggest scheduling your coffee to go off bright and early Monday, prepping some meals for weekday lunches (these salad recipes look amazing!) and crossing a few things off your weekly to-do list, like laundry, ironing or straightening up around the house. Waking up on Monday morning to the smell of a fresh pot of coffee and a clean house will make your life a bit less frantic.
3. Go easy on yourself on Mondays!
We all know Mondays can be hard enough as it is, so don’t make it any harder by packing too many things into your Monday. We suggest starting your morning with a few quiet minutes alone (we know it can be tough, especially if you have kids, but consider waking up a few minutes early to enjoy a sip of coffee without distractions). We also recommend planning something low-key for Monday night, if anything. We know it can be tempting to pack your social calendar in advance, but no one finishes a tough work day on Monday and wants to head to drinks, dinner and not get home until late. Consider making Monday your one night a week to order in takeout, or splurge on a nice bottle of wine that you can enjoy on the couch.
